The Borgo of Pianciano

History

“The borgo” originally belonged to the Pianciani family, together with Villa Paradiso and the large surrounding estate. In the early 1900, it passed to the Bachetoni family who gave new life to the agricultural activities whilst maintaining the trademark olive oil production. Until the 1950s, the borgo housed the farmers of the estate. It was subsequently restored by Francesco Bachetoni, a civil engineer, who followed the restoration himself, drawing upon his professional expertise and his love for his Umbrian origins. Francesco and his family regularly spend time in Borgo Pianciano. The architect Paul Favre directed the scrupulous restoration of the houses whereas the gardens were designed by the landscape artist Sofia Varoli Piazza. Borgo Pianciano is the perfect destination for visitors wishing to discover Umbria’s natural beauties and ancient cities such as Spoleto, Assisi, Spello, Perugia, Montefalco, Foligno and Orvieto. It is the ideal place for a relaxing holiday including traditional little known Umbrian foods and wines.

Hospitality

“The borgo” includes four houses which can accommodate from 2 to 27 people (Casa dell’Arco, Casa del Cipresso, Casa della Roccia and Casa del Melograno) and the Sala Alceo, a common space of 80 square meters. Le Case del Borgo can be rented individually or together per week, for shorter periods or for long term rentals; it is the ideal place for family holidays, for couples, for meetings of friends, family, (business meetings), etc.. It is also possible to organize courses, tastings, events and weddings up to a maximum capacity of 80 people.

Casa del Melograno

Casa del Melograno (about 150 sqm) is located right in the center of the Borgo and can accomodate up to 6 people. It is named by the Pomegranate tree planted nearby. It has a private garden and a terrace, ideal for dining “al fresco”. On the same floor there are a large kitchen-living room with a fireplace, a master bedroom, two rooms ( double or twin) and two bathrooms. It is mainly decorated with antique furniture. The washing machine is located in a separate premise. (washing machine, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, dish washer, microwaves, oven, nespresso, barbecue).

Casa dell’arco

Casa dell’Arco looks onto the hamlet and can accommodate up to 8 people. It is named after the large stone arch in the living room. It has a private garden with an outdoor table to eat outside. It is a very large house (about 300sqm). The ground floor features a large kitchen, a spacious living room with a fireplace, an impressive dining room excavated in the rock, a store room, a small anteroom with the guestbathroom and another storeroom for suitcases on the staircase leading to the upper floor. The bedrooms are on the upper floor: a master bedroom with a fireplace and a bathroom (shower), another master bedroom, a room with two beds and another bathroom. On the same floor, there is another room with two beds with an independent entrance, a bathroom and a very small kitchen. The laundry is located in a separate premise. The house is decorated with both modern and antique furniture. (dish washer, washing machine, hair dryer, iron, barbecue)..

Casa del Cipresso were the old stables of the hamlet and can accomodate up to 6 people. It has a vast private garden, a large fresh and airy terrace with a tiled roof, ideal for outdoor dining. On the same floor there are a large kitchen-living room with a fireplace, a master bedroom and two rooms with two beds and two bathrooms. It is mainly decorated with antique furniture. The laundry is located in a separate premise. (washing machine, iron, hair dryer, dish washer, barbecue).

Casa della roccia

Casa della Roccia was the old sheepfold (about 150 m2): it can accommodate up to 6 people. It has a private garden and a terrace for outdoor dining. It is named after the rock on which the house was built, which can be seen in the kitchen and in one of the bathrooms. The ground floors consist of: a large kitchen, a living room with a fireplace, a bathroom and a small room with a separate entrance. The bedrooms are on the upper floor: a master bedroom and another room with two beds and another bathroom. The laundry is located in a separate premise. The house is decorated with both modern and antique furniture (washing machine, iron, hair dryer, dish washer, barbecue).
